1.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO GET STAMPED CONCRETE?
Click on the "Calculate an estimate" button on your right to use
our exclusive Project Cost
Calculator It is easy to use, and you can get a price for
your project INSTANTLY! This tool gives prospective clients the
ability to evaluate pricing options to stay within their budget.
2. WHAT
CITIES DO YOU PERFORM CONCRETE WORK IN?
Due to the large volume of
calls and customer requirements, we limit our
services to in and around the bay area. We are
based in the Silicon Valley and work from Santa
Cruz all the way through San Francisco. However,
we do travel further depending upon the size and
type of job.
3. I GOT
A PRICE FROM THE PROJECT COST CALCULATOR. NOW
WHAT?
Call us at (408) 262-1859
or e-mail us at
info@ace-construction.net and you may
schedule an ACE representative to come to your
property and give you a formal quote.
4. CAN THE PRICE THAT I
RECIEVED FROM THE PROJECT COST CALCULATOR EVER CHANGE?
Generally, the price
recieved from the Calculator is accurate. However, that price
strictly excludes any potential factors that may obstruct the
smooth execution of the project. Factors such as access,
drainage, utilities and need for base rock are some of the most
common reasons that can cause an increase when an ACE
representative gives you a formal bid subsequent to a vist to
your property.
5. HOW MANY DAYS WILL IT
TAKE FOR ACE TO FINISH MY JOB?
Typically:
500 SF ~approximately 1-2 days
1000 SF ~approximately 2-3 days
2000 SF ~approximately 3-4 days
5000 SF ~approximately 1 week
10000 SF ~approximately 2 weeks
These numbers reflect averages based on previous jobs. They can
change based upon the complexity of your project.
6. HOW DO
YOU STAMP CONCRETE?
The standard process of stamping
concrete involves the following steps: (Refer to
the
Picture Gallery for more information)
- Remove existing concrete (if any exists)
- Prepare ground for pouring new concrete (Grade/Level)
- Pour new concrete with pigment of base color as chosen by client
- Sprinkle highlight color as chosen by client
- Imprint texture mat onto the concrete (create stamp effect)
- Pressure wash it (3-4 days later)
- Seal the concrete (28-30 days later)
7. THREE
BASIC SELECTIONS CLIENT HAS TO MAKE:
a.) Choose the
base color
b.) Choose the
highlight color(s)
c.) Choose the
stamp pattern
8. DOES THE PRICE OF THE PROJECT
DEPEND UPON MY COLOR/STAMP
SELECTION?
Generally, the
colors are split into three different pricing categories with
the greens and blues being the most expensive. The reason behind
that is they are more expensive than the concrete itself, due to
the limited areas in which they are mined. When you use the
Project Cost Calculator,
the cost of colors is incorporated into the tool, and you can
switch between colors and obtain different quotes based upon
your selection. However, the type of stamp pattern, or selection
of release colors doesn't cause any significant changes in the
price for your project.
9. CAN I
WALK ON THE CONCRETE AFTER IT HAS BEEN POURED
AND LOOKS DRY?
You can walk on
the concrete 2-3 days after it has been poured. However, if you
have dogs or other pets, they should strictly stay off the
concrete for at least 4 days after it has been poured.
10.
ACE RECENTLY POURED STAMPED CONCRETE FOR MY
PROJECT. WHY DOES IT LOOK SO DULL?
Stamped concrete
is as much art as it is science. We always inform our
prospective clients that concrete takes time to "cure". For the
first 2-3 days after the concrete has been poured, the release
color(s) merely looks like faded powder sprinkled over the
concrete. So what can you do? Simply wait for us to come back
and pressure wash it. Pressure washing brings out the colors and
the texture. The concrete looks a better, especially when wet
but still doesn't have its full aesthetic appeal. In about 30
days ACE comes back to "seal" the concrete. Now just hold your
breath, and watch the final product unfold. Refer to the
Picture Gallery of process of pouring concrete to see a "Before and
After" of sealing concrete, and the dramatic difference it
makes.
11.
WILL MY CONCRETE EVER CRACK? WHAT CAN I DO TO
PREVENT IT FROM CRACKING?
Eventually all
concrete will crack. Stamped concrete is more prone to cracking
because the highlight color prevents the use of a traditional
concrete curing compound that controls the rate at which the
concrete dries. There is a solution to minimize cracking but it
is basically a trade off. ACE can increase the number of
"control joints" we put in the concrete in order to minimize
cracking. Due to the underlying chemical processes that cause
the mud (concrete) to solidify, maximizing the number of control
joints minimizes any potential cracking, and using less control
joints increases the chance that the concrete will crack. ACE
recommends including control joints at 8' centers for people who
want to minimize the chance that the concrete will crack. In
spite of this information, which we provide for our prospective
clients, people realize that the cracking is usually subtle, and
therefore choose to maintain the beauty of stamped concrete by
having a lower number of control joints. Ultimately, it is
client satisfaction that we wish to achieve, and we can beautify
your existing driveway/patio by your choice of either option.
